A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING DR. JAN MOODY FOR BEING SELECTED AS INSTRUCTOR OF THE YEAR AT THE PERKINSTON CAMPUS OF THE MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST COMMUNITY COLLEGE.

WHEREAS, Dr. Jan Moody, a resident of Poplarville, Mississippi, has been selected as Instructor of the Year at the Perkinston Campus of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in recognition of her distinguished service to the college; and

WHEREAS, the award was established by the Alumni Association of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College to honor instructors at the college, and the recipient of the award is chosen from nominations submitted by students, faculty and administrators, on the basis of her teaching excellence, college service, community service and professional development; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Moody, a biological sciences instructor, has been employed at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College for the past three years; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Moody attended Pearl River Community College and Mississippi State University and she received her M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Southern Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, throughout her career, Dr. Moody has received many awards including Who's Who Among American Teachers, Star Teacher, the Tandy Outstanding Teacher Award and the Golden Apple Award; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend such outstanding teachers as Dr. Jan Moody, who has dedicated her career to teaching the young people of this state:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Dr. Jan Moody for being selected as Instructor of the Year at the Perkinston Campus of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and extend to her our heartiest wishes of success in all her future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Dr. Jan Moody and members of the Capitol Press Corps.
